A little bit about Kenya..

LocationKenya is located on the East coast of Africa. It lies on the equator and is bordered on the north by Sudan, Somalia and Ethopia. Uganda and Lake Victoria lie to the west, Tanzania and Mount Kilimanjaro are to the south while the Indian Ocean lies to the east. Kenya has a total area of 582,650 square kilometers and is the worlds 47th largest country.
ClimateKenya enjoys a tropical climate experiencing moderate temperatures averaging about 22 degrees celscius throughout the year. It is hot and humid at the coast, temparate inland and dry at the north and north-east parts of the country.
GeographyKenya has diverse physical features, which are divided into: low lying arid and semi-arid lands, coastal belt, plateau, highlands and the lake basin around Lake Victoria. The country is bisected by the Great Rift Valley which extends for 8,700 km on the surface of the earth from the Dead Sea in Jordan to Beira in Mozambique.
PopulationKenya has an estimated population of 34 million people with approximately six million peope living in the urban areas. Kenya has a diverse population comprising of 42 ethnic groups.
CitiesNairobi is the capital city of Kenya and is the financial and services hub of East Africa.The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) which is the largest and busiest airport in East and Central Africa is in Nairobi. It serves as a transit hub for major airlines as well as the gateway for visitors to Africa's treasured game parks, cultural hertiage, scenic landscapes and business opportunities. The airport also serves as a major cargo center for both inbound and outbound goods. The other major cities are Eldoret(Marathon Host City), Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru.
Getting to KenyaKenya is well served by major international airlines, which fly into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi (Capital City). From here, one can easily connect to Eldoret International Airport via a 45 minute flight. This airport lies in the city where the marathon will be held (Eldoret). Other popular attractions in Kenya are the coastal city of Mombasa which is a popular charter destination from most major European cities, Masai Mara and Tsavo wildlife parks and Mount Kenya which is the 2nd largest mountain in Africa.
