HistoryThe name, “marathon”, comes from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek soldier, who was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been miraculously defeated in the Battle of Marathon. The soldier had faith in his country, and in KASS Sports, we emphasize from the beginning the essence of sports and its superiority over other possibilities. We believe in the strength of Sports values, and the freedom and pride it creates in individuals. KASS Marathon is designed by KASS sports and is intended for participation by the over 5.2 million listeners across the country and the Diaspora. The Participants will race and utilize the opportunity to showcase their talent and potential. Through sports, we utilize time that is mostly spent by majority of our listeners on idle activities that may often lead to moral decadence such as drug abuse and alcoholism. In KASS Sports and Entertainment, we single out the Marathon for it is the race that has a long history of pride and is praised as a modern-day race in which most of the record holders have become heroes of the modern day and who live within the area of KASS listenership.

Kass MarathonThe above background of the sport gives KASS Sports the opportunity to organize a marathon within the home of athletes. This is a unique event because it draws together all the athletics heroes and allows them to participate in an event that is of their own and homegrown. The Kass Marathon is historic since it will be run between Kapsabet and Eldoret, a high altitude area where the runners will experience one of the toughest routes in marathon racing, and will attract a large number of first timers. The KASS Marathon is an incredible experience because you not only run in the land of renowned marathoners but also through the Great Rift Valley where you get a historical sight-seeing tour as well. The route takes you through the Mosoriot Teachers College, Kapsabet, Eldoret Plains and finally Eldoret town through Langas to the finish line overseeing the Eldoret Municipal hall. The route certified course will start in Chepterit, the Junction to University of East Africa Baraton and wind its way through the Kapsabet Eldoret Road all the way to Eldoret where it will turn at the Langas, Corner Mbaya and return to the main road via Kisumu Ndogo just next to the Eldoret Polytechnic, then run straight on to the finish line. Completing a marathon is considered very difficult, but within the KASS area of competition it is necessary to note that majority of the training camps are within this area and certainly most participants will put an effort to complete the race

About The Organizer (KASS CLUB)KASS Club is a membership club for all the KASS FM listeners, who have formed sporting activities to promote sports among the club members and hold major sporting events that bring together listeners from various parts of the country. The sporting events offer new initiatives through our special business programmes.
