The Kass Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by Kass Club in Eldoret, Rift Valley in Western Kenya. The annual event is always held in the last quarter of each year to capture the largest number of the athletes in the region.It begun in 2008, inspired by the the quest by the ever growing athletics talent in Kenya. Kass Marathon is the most admired annual marathon in the Rift Valley and ranks as one of the best-known road racing events.
Since inception, the KASS Club has managed this event.Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Marathon each year, braving the hilly terrain, high altitude and varying weather to take part in the race.
The event attracts thousands of spectators each year, making it the region's most widely viewed sporting event. Though starting with few participants in 2008, the event now attracts an average of about 2,000 registered participants each year.
The KASS Marathon is an incredible experience because you not only run in the land of renowned marathoners but also through the Great Rift Valley where you get a historical sight-seeing tour as well.
Completing a marathon is considered very difficult, but within the KASS area of competition it is necessary to note that majority of the training camps are within this area and certainly most participants will put an effort to complete the race.
